Random Thoughts #14 (The Problem with Film Reviewers these Days)

You know I would really appreciate if every other 'film critic' would actually talk about the craft of film making than just saying X is a well crafted movie. Film like any other art form is a sum of all it's parts the story of the movie is only just a part of it. Said story is told using a mixture of visuals and sounds by employing various cinematography techniques, sound editing and sound design. Talk about the intricacies of bringing about the world of the film through the production design or how a director employs color grading to convey a particular motif. Explain the subtext in a particular scene.
The thing is the average movie goer is oblivious to a lot of this craft, but if you are gonna write reviews and call yourself a film critic you have to talk about the craft of film making in your reviews. Don't say your readers don't wanna know about this craft, that ain't an excuse. You don't see sports commentators not talking about various strategies during broadcasts. It would feel weird if cricket commentators didn't talk about field placements, or football commentators about playing formations. So why should film reviews be any different by avoiding talking about film making itself ?
Cause if I just wanted a synopsis of the film, which admit it is what most film reviews are now,( ie : nothing but a glorified synopsis with a personal rating) I would have just googled it.
